It is within this environment that Jones cultivated both his intellectual foundation and his lifelong commitment to service. Southern University is currently in the midst of its ambitious $750 million comprehensive capital campaign, Imagine Southern, which aims to transform the institution by 2030 through major investments in student success, infrastructure, innovation, and community engagement. To date, the university has already raised more than $327 million toward this historic effort. As part of the campaign, Southern University is also leading a focused initiative to raise approximately $18 million for a state of the art Alumni Center that will serve as a hub for alumni engagement, university events, and community connection. Carlton B. Jones Jr. has been instrumental in advancing this vision through his leadership as National President of the Southern
University Alumni Federation. Under his leadership and advocacy, the university has already secured more than $1 million toward the development of the Alumni Center, reflecting both strong alumni support and a shared commitment to Southern University’s future. With a degree in civil engineering, he stepped into the professional world equipped with technical skill, but what distinguishes him is how he has used that skill with intention. As an investment recovery advisor with Material Management Resources, Jones helps Fortune 500 companies, including ExxonMobil, Dominion Energy, and California Resources Corporation, recover millions of dollars in value each year. His work consistently generates between $3 million and $4 million annually, a testament to both his expertise and his discipline.
