One of her major contributions to the project management field includes her role on the review team for the fifth edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Guide. As a member of the content committee, she contributed written material, conceptual frameworks, and detailed recommendations that helped shape a guide used by professionals around the world. This opportunity highlights her expertise and the respect she commands within her field. Howard is also a nationally recognized advocate for equity in cybersecurity. She has been invited to the White House several times to participate in high level discussions on cybersecurity issues affecting Black communities and K-12 schools. Partnering with the National Cybersecurity Alliance, she also spoke on a panel at NASDAQ, focusing on the need for inclusive representation in digital and cybersecurity careers. Beyond her technical leadership, Howard is a dynamic force in the community. She is the founder of Life Abundantly Coaching, through which she offers purpose and career coaching to help women make informed decisions about their futures. She also launched The Belle Connection, a mentoring program for middle school girls that focuses on STEM, self esteem, and service. Under her nonprofit, Esther’s Hope Global, Howard offers programs such as iEvolve for single mothers in underserved communities and Be The Village, a life skills series for women. She has led workshops for women and girls across the region, including vision and purpose sessions for the DC Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs. Her accolades are numerous. She is a recipient of the March of Dimes Heroines of Washington Award and the Women of Color in Technology All Star Award. Bennett College recognized her with the Movers and Shakers Award, honoring alumnae who make a significant impact in their communities. She has been a finalist for the Women in Technology Rising Star Award and was nominated to attend the White House Summit on the United State of Women as a changemaker. National media outlets such as Fox5DC, Great Day Washington, WKYS 93.9, and PeopleStyle magazine have featured her work and advocacy. A lifelong volunteer, she has served as a group leader for the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation’s Girls Who Rule the World Mentoring Camp and continues to support organizations like Central Union Mission and Calvary Women’s Services. Sharnikya Howard’s journey is a testament to what is possible when education, passion, and purpose align. From her roots at Bennett College to the national stage, she continues to inspire by living out her belief: I am the best me when I am serving others.

S harnikya Howard has built a career at the intersection of technology, leadership, and service. A proud graduate of Bennett College for Women, she has dedicated her professional life to advancing equity in STEM, empowering women and girls, and shaping inclusive innovation. Through her work in project management, cybersecurity, and mentoring, she is setting a standard for what it means to lead with both purpose and impact. Howard began her academic journey at Bennett College, one of only two all women Historically Black Colleges and Universities. There, she

earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and developed a passion for problem solving, leadership, and advocacy. Her time at Bennett instilled in her the confidence and commitment to not only enter the male dominated tech industry but to excel in it. She later earned a Master of Science in project management, an MBA, and completed the Women’s Entrepreneurship certificate program at Cornell University. Professionally, Howard is a certified SAFe Agilist and a Project Management Professional (PMP) with deep expertise in leading enterprise software development initiatives. She
