Kress Building and plans to restore the formally segregated building as an incubator for minority and women-owned businesses. Among the other projects slated in the university’s $90 million construction plan are an Alumni Center, Science & Technology Center and Nursing, Student Health and Humanities Conference Center. Under Warmack’s leadership, Claflin has maintained its prestigious rankings. For the 14th consecutive year, Claflin University was named the No. 1 HBCU in South Carolina
according to the U.S. News & World Report Best College 2025 Rankings. Claflin is ranked No. 7 nationally among private HBCUs and No. 12 among all HBCUs. The university is also ranked South Carolina’s top national liberal arts college / university in social mobility and earned the No. 7 spot for four- year graduation rates among HBCUs. The first five years of the Warmack Era are marked with tremendous accomplishments and thriving through adversity. As President Warmack looks
toward the university’s future, he is student focused and wants to continue to increase retention and graduation rates from number 3 amongst HBCUs.
