MAY 2025 GRAADUATES

CARTER F. SMITH

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Carter F. Smith graduated early from Jackson State University with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a full-time position on Wall Street. After losing his father just before his senior year of high school, Carter channeled his grief into motivation, becoming his high school’s salutatorian, completing community college in one year, and now earning his degree from JSU ahead of schedule. He made history as the first JSU

student selected for S&P Global’s prestigious CREDit Ratings Program, where he later secured a role as a credit ratings analyst. Named a Student Marshal and inducted into the JSU Hall of Fame, Carter is a shining example of resilience, excellence, and the power of HBCU mentorship. “I never imagined that a kid from Jackson could make it to Wall Street so soon, but here I am,” he says. “THEE I love.”
