DR. SIOBAHN DAY GRADY
D r. Siobahn Day Grady made history in 2018 as the first woman to earn a Ph.D.
computer interaction (HCI), and the ethical implications of emerging technologies. Her research focuses on developing frameworks to ensure fairness in AI governance, working to create systems that promote inclusivity rather than perpetuate inequalities. Through her pioneering work, Dr. Grady is shaping the future of AI while advocating for a more just and equitable technological landscape. Her contributions continue to break barriers and inspire the next generation of scholars and innovators. She is an assistant professor of Information Science/Systems and an Office of e-Learning faculty fellow.

Dr. Grady has presented at prominent conferences, and her impact is represented in the largest exhibit of women’s statues and museums across the country through her role as an AAAS IF/THEN alumna. She has also established six merit- based, STEM-focused endowed scholarships at HBCUs within the University of North Carolina System. These scholarships have provided financial support for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math. Reviewer, Peer Reviewer, and Facilitator roles. Beyond academia, she serves on several boards and advisory committees, including the Winston-Salem State University Foundation and the National Girls Collaborative Project. A proud life member of the Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina Central University National Alumni Associations, she is also an active member of the Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
