undergraduate researcher on grants. She also co-authored research publications in peer- reviewed journals, such as the International Journal of Applied Agricultural Research. She was a resident in the three- year Laboratory Animal Medicine Program, at Oregon Health and Science University, in Portland, Oregon. She was the first African American president of the Oregon Chapter of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (OAALAS). Serving as a mentor, she advised future veterinary students at Oregon Health and Science University. Her participation in community outreach efforts included serving as a presenter and career day speaker to secondary and college students in the Portland, Oregon area. She was also the recipient of the Nicholas L. Tartar Research Fellowship Grant.
After residency, she served as the Attending Veterinarian for a corporate, start-up veterinary hospital in the Pacific Northwest. She is currently an Attending Veterinarian, providing ambulatory preventative care with Vetco Total Care Corporation. Dr. Streeter is also an entrepreneur. She is the co- founder and secretary of JLJ Resources, Inc., an academic focused, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. It was founded during her teen years and she still serves in that position two decades later. She is also the founder and CEO of Forrest Street, LLC, a veterinary consulting and lifestyle company. She is the “first” in many ways. Through her Opinion Column in The Skanner newspaper, Dr. Streeter was the first veterinarian to have her commentary in the newspaper from 2016 - 2019. The Skanner is an African American- owned newspaper published in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. She was also the first African American veterinarian and the youngest executive board member of the Portland Audubon Society now named Bird Alliance of Oregon. Dr. Streeter is currently authoring a book on veterinarian wellness. She and her her mother are co- authoring a series of children’s books about her fur babies. Dr. Streeter continues to dedicate her self to her patients and will continue to make a difference in the lives of the animals and the humans that love them.
