At her beloved alma mater, North Carolina Central University, Imani served as the 78th Miss NCCU, earning the affectionate title of The Central Lady. During her reign, she discovered and refined her voice as a leader, crediting the experience with shaping her lifelong commitment to civic engagement, professional excellence, and uplifting others. Her innovative efforts to boost student morale and maintain connection during the COVID-19 pandemic led to historic recognition. Imani became the first Miss NCCU to earn both the HBCU Queen of the Year Award and the National Miss Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Service Award, a

testament to her compassion, creativity, and servant leadership.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Imani is a woman of faith, creativity, and innovation. She believes in using her platform to empower others, amplify marginalized voices, and champion meaningful community impact. Imani Johnson is a proud Historically Black College and University graduate whose journey reflects purpose, resilience, and a deep commitment to advocacy, public service, and community empowerment. With a distinguished background in governmental policy and civic engagement, she has cultivated the experience and leadership necessary to thrive as a public information officer in local government. She currently serves as a public information communications analyst for the City of Durham, where she plays a vital role in advancing transparent communication, strengthening relationships between
